Moragul. This large carrion bird is the boldest of them all, being so aggressive that it has even attacked the undead or ridden one’s shoulder like a parrot, chomping away at its flesh. The corrosive vomit they can spit is best avoided but can be used in spells.

HP: 3/3

That explained why the moragul hadn’t fled. The bird paused to gaze at him before resuming. He wondered who the body belonged to. He hadn’t heard of any kryll being killed in the daekais attack. Would a kryllan player like Siren find herself here? He guessed not. His body wasn’t—or hadn’t been—in the graveyard. This corpse was probably an NPC.

As he stood there, the pitter patter of heavy rain drops striking leaves began. Noticing he wasn’t getting wet, he held up a hand and made it visible. The drops passed right through it. But he wasn’t ready to assume other elements of the physical world wouldn’t affect him. Some already had. He needed to experiment.

Suddenly, something small and round fell from above to crash into the bone pile with an audible crack. As it bounced down and rolled near his feet, he recognized a skull. The pile had shifted from the impact, several bones sliding apart. He floated over to there, and when he looked at the point of impact, something caught his eye. The blow had created a small crater and his sixth sense more than his sight detected something. He moved closer and felt a tingling growing.

Making his entire right arm visible, Max reached toward the bones, but his hand passed through them. Picking up something was apparently not an option. And yet he still sensed an item in there and remembered what the quest said. He extended his arm shoulder deep in the pile. And then his finger struck an object. With little feeling in his ghostly body, he couldn’t tell what it was and struggled to get a hold. But his hands finally closed over what felt like a straight bone. He started pulling, the item dislodging bones as he slid it out with a cringe for disturbing the site. It finally came free, and he straightened in surprise.

It appeared to be a lyre, but unlike one he’d ever seen, not that he had much experience. But anyone would’ve been startled by what he held. It was a humanoid skull with blood-red hair still flowing in long, silken strands. The top of the skull had been cut away. In its place was some sort of leather hide that had been stitched to the upper edge of the severed head like a drum. At the back of the skull, near the top, two curved horns from some animal extended to a connecting crossbar of bone, which he was holding. Tuning pegs of glowing silver metal had been drilled into the crossbar. Stretching from there over the leather to the skull’s front were seven strings made of some kind of nylon.

“What the hell is this?” he asked aloud, amazed and creeped out.
